Breaking the Rules and Breaking the Equipment

Improper handling of washout trays can damage machinery, create safety risks, and incur costly repairs. PumperDump highlights why proper equipment use is essential for safe and efficient concrete waste management.

The photo and video will say a thousand words.

My last post discussed washout trays and the need for them to be emptied into the onsite skip. With safety being a top priority on site, actions like this must be taken seriously.

Equipment Abuse

The video shows a washout tray being tipped into a skip. On a site with 100+ pours, this constant abuse can eventually cause damage to the manitou.

While I’ve been told of machines developing cracks on the boom or damage to the rotator, the photo below shows damage to a manitou tyne from lifting overweight bins and constant banging. The new attachment sits in the distance. This repair cost $4,000, and it happened on a tier 1 builder’s site!

You may be surprised at how often this happens on your site.
